Lately, I've been thinking that I'm much more of a task master with my kids then their dad is. Since I don't want my kids to grow up to be illiterate slackers, I'm usually the one who's making them do their chores or get their homework done. Their dad, on the other hand, doesn't seem to worry about this so much (at all?).
I also don't want my kids to look back on their childhoods' and think that they only did fun stuff with dad. I mean, my kids and I do a lot of fun things with my family because we seem to get together several times a month for birthdays and holidays. But, I'd like to spend more time doing fun things with just the three of us so, I've been making more of a concerted effort to do just that.
This past Sunday afternoon, we went to Los Poblanos with my sister, Kathy (ok, so this was the four of us). Los Poblanos is a little slice of heaven on Earth. If you are ever in Albuquerque, it is definitely worth a visit.
My kids loved all of the adorable farm animals. We did a little shopping in The Farm Shop where they feature Los Poblanos lavender spa products, local gourmet goodies and all sorts of unique items by local artisans. Then, we just had to have some local lavender lemon gelato (yum). We wandered over to the historic Los Poblanos Inn where we quickly looked around before they very politely reminded us that the Inn was for guests. We all wanted to stay the night at the Inn after seeing it!
Hope you have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend!
