I was off for two weeks over Christmas. I had big plans to get all kinds of projects done around my house, instead, I wound up just relaxing and spending time with my kids and my family, which was fantastic and just what I needed.
One thing I did manage to accomplish though was to make a bookshelf for the magazines and books that my son likes to read before he goes to bed.
I wasn't quite sure what I was going to use, but knew that it had to have a low profile because it was going to be right next to his bed. Jacob was concerned about "bonking" his head on it in the night if I put up anything that stuck out too far.
I really love the use of the Ikea spice rack that I've seen on Pinterest and several blogs. Like this one.
I use my stud finder to find a stud in the wall where it will hang. Then, I put three holes into the back of the gutter with a drill bit. The center hole will go into the stud and the other two holes, I'll use toggle bolts. I screw the center part into the stud, but I don't screw it all the way into the wall yet. I check it for level.
Now, I just need to fill in the hole and paint over my pencil mark.
|Sorry for the dark picture! It was a rare cloudy day.|
Jacob and I both love the way it turned out, and he hasn't bonked his head on it once!
Until next time! Thanks so much for dropping by.
