Living Room Tweaking & Tour

Hi there! Today I wanted to give you a tour of my living room in its current state and then show you the mood board I made to show you some of the changes I'd like to make.
Here is the dresser that I refinished last year and the gallery wall that I hung recently. This area is done, only took me about a year to do it!
I put three Carson bookcases from Target together, painted the wall behind them green and then stenciled it.  I'm still not done with styling the bookcases. I'd also like to add some trim moulding onto the bottom to give it more of a built in look (and to hide the dust bunnies).
This is just to show you how much room is between the bookcases and the couch.
I'm thinking about doing something with the fireplace because I'm not crazy about the tile.
I'd also like to replace this chair, ottoman and light.
The tiny entry way opens right into the living room.
Here's another shot of the bookcases and couches (and Bocce, such a little ham!). I would like to eventually get a sectional. My couch and love seat are from Pottery Barn and cost a fortune. I love them except for the fact that they shrink and don't look as good as when I first bought them. They'll have to do for now though.
I got this table years ago at a consignment store and I'll be painting it. The basket underneath holds books and it needs to be cleaned out. I need to get a tray for the magazines on this table too.
As you can see from my mood board, I'm still sticking with a blue and green color scheme, but in more saturated tones primarily in the fabrics.  I also want to incorporate some black and white graphic prints into the room. Maybe a black and white chevron throw and some pillows.  For behind the bookcases, I'm thinking a peacock blue which will look good with white, gold, and black.

Living Room Tweaking

I've been searching Craig's List for months looking for a glass coffee table, with no luck. So, I'm just going to keep my coffee table and refinishing it, similar to the one shown in the mood board. On the two white Roman shades on the windows and onto the lamp, I'm going to add some black ribbon. I'm going to get a more neutral rug so that I can change my color scheme when I want to and not have to buy a new rug every time. I threw in the fabric I selected for my kitchen window shade to make sure that it all coordinates since the rooms are in such close proximity to one another.

I know that I said I was planning on finishing up my bookcase projects this past weekend, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. I started another living room project instead that took longer than I anticipated so I'll be showing that to you in my next post.

I'm so glad you dropped in and I hope you have a great day.

  2. Thank you Deme! I'm excited to tackle it. I think it will be the fun part, now that I've gotten the major furniture projects out of the way. You're the sweetest! :)
