Last Minute Christmas Crafts

Last minute as in finishing these projects up yesterday evening and today!  Ack!  I still have presents to wrap but we are headed to my sister Kathy's in a few hours for her fabulous Christmas Eve party!  We'll have lots of good food like tamales, enchiladas, posole, ham and lots of wine.

We finally got our gingerbread frosted.  Olivia and I piped on the royal icing.  Jacob frosted some and then started bouncing around the room, in typical fashion, after consuming one too many cookies.  The recipe we use has seven cups of flour in it so after awhile, we are sick of frosting them because there are so many.
We had made them last week though and had managed to eat quite a few, so Olivia and I made some Russian tea cakes and some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies since we were planning on giving some cookies away to family and friends as gifts.

They got boxed up in these white cupcake boxes from Wilton that I got at Michael's.

For the tags, I found a laurel wreath design that I liked and drew them on with a fine tipped Sharpie, along with the recipient's initial in the middle.
I used some gray and white striped string to tie them onto the boxes.

For my next project, I wanted to add a personal touch to my nieces' gifts of movie passes and movie candy.

I found some free printable images of flying reindeer and printed and cut them out.
I Mod Podged them onto some plain white bags, also from Michael's.
I love the way they turned out!
For the backs of the bags, I drew on the same laurel wreath and their initials.

Thanks to my little elf for helping me shoot these pictures.  Jacob holds up the drop cloth next to the dining table so that the living room doesn't show up in the pictures.

The last project was to make some initial glitter ornaments for the new white stockings I got for Olivia, Jacob and Bocce at Target.

Simple enough, just paint on some Mod Podge and apply the glitter liberally.
I hot glued some jute twine onto the backs.
Then, just hung them on the Command hooks that hold the stockings.

I would liked to have added some greenery to them, as well, but that was about all I had time for, but I have a lot of ideas for Christmas next year.  These past few days I've kept telling myself that I am not doing this next year!  I am not going to put things off 'til the last minute and stress out over getting things done.  Speaking of getting things done...I'm going to try to wrap some presents now.

Wishing you all a...

Merry Christmas!

  1. Sharon, all of these are so cute!! I love the bags and can't believe you did the monogram by hand. The gold glitter initials are perfect! Such a great way to personalize the stockings and add some Christmas sparkle. Pinning that for next year! And can I say that I'm incredibly jealous of your Christmas Eve meal. Craving some good NM cooking right now!
